River is an extraordinary dog - happy, fun loving, sweet to everybody (including 4 legged ones) he meets. It is hard to understand how he is so full of love and joy given that he was nearly starved to death by his former "person". HART pulled River from a South Carolina shelter where he was "out of time". A plea went out to help this "wonderful, fantastic lab" as no one had stepped up and HART responded. We are so glad we did!! River is steadily gaining weight but given how thin he is it will take time to reach a normal weight. Our vets describe River as "one of the nicest dogs you can meet"... quite a reference! We are looking for a person or family who will love him as much as he will love you.
As you can see from the video below, River loves other dogs and loves to play ball. If you have another dog that loves to play River may just be the perfect companion.
