Shelby fought cancer with courage and grace, but on Saturday she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. We adopted Shelby from HART in May, 2006 and she immediately filled our lives with joy. She loved lying in the sun, sniffing out rabbits, and comforting anyone who was down. She always sat patiently when children patted her. Shelby was in her element running around in our backyard with her neighborhood dog friends and because she was part beagle, she loved her treats! In June she was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. She was treated at the HOPE Center and Herndon Animal Medical Center with compassion and we are so grateful for their support. We will miss her every day, but she made each of us better people with her loving and gentle ways. Thank you HART for giving us this special treasure.
