Melvin is a handsome and playful big lug that has been with HART for far longer than he deserves. The first thing he'll do when he sees you is try to play. The second thing he'll try to do is put his head in your lap or give you kisses. He knows how to sit, come, and STAY. He will even stay while you prepare his food and not start eating until you tell him to "eat". Every day we seem to discover new things that he's already been trained to do. He just needs some leash work and is almost housebroken. Melvin is a great family dog though little kids might be scared by his high energy. He is especially fond of children and associates them with playtime. He even gets along with other dogs. HART adoption events are very overwhelming for Melvin and he barks at everybody he sees. Some people think he's barking out of aggression, but he really just wants to play or be pet. Once you get within arms reach he calms down or wants to play. His foster parents are working on the barking. All of the adoption event barking has made it difficult for poor Melvin to find a home. His foster parents would love to bring their favorite foster dog yet by your home or, if you prefer, a more public location so you can meet the real Melvin and see why he'd make a great addition to your family.
